Pares, or beef pares , is one of the most popular street food in the Philippines. It is typically a bowl of braised beef stew served with a cup of garlic fried rice. The name ' pares ' literally translates to 'pair'. In the town where I live, several pares diners can be found. A fairly new one is situated near the town's center. Pares Point is a garage-turned-diner that serves pares and pares mami.  It is important to note that they serve ' retiro-style' pares which according to thesmartlocal.com, was where pares originated.  As can be seen in the photos, the diner only serves this dish. It may not seem much, but the food is not disappointing. Here is a list of reasons why I think Davao is a place that you should not miss when in the Philippines. 1.
