Street Food: Pares Retiro-style

Pares, or beef pares , is one of the most popular street food in the Philippines. It is typically a bowl of braised beef stew served with a cup of garlic fried rice. The name ' pares ' literally translates to 'pair'. In the town where I live, several pares diners can be found. A fairly new one is situated near the town's center. Pares Point is a garage-turned-diner that serves pares and pares mami.  It is important to note that they serve ' retiro-style' pares which according to thesmartlocal.com, was where pares originated.  As can be seen in the photos, the diner only serves this dish. It may not seem much, but the food is not disappointing. Davao is a city in Mindanao that is the home of many great things from the Philippines. The urban life here is special and it cannot be compared to any other cities in the country. Here is a list of reasons why I think Davao is a place that you should not miss when in the Philippines. 1. Child-friendly destinations (The Philippine Eagle Foundation and Davao Crocodile Park and Zoo) The Philippine Eagle Foundation is dedicated to save and protect not only Eagles but also all other wildlife that are currently endangered.
