Avocado and others (1 month update)

Image
A month or so has passed since I tried the lifehack avocado germinating experiment and here are some photos of how well they're doing now. (Yes, the lifehack is TRUE so I recommend ya'll to try it yourself). Two weeks after poking and submerging some seeds into a cup, one seed germinated fast. It developed roots while the others are just slowly developing their own roots. This seed was originally closed. You can see that a root is about to sprout. This was the first seed that germinated and grew roots.  I transferred the first seed to a pot but I did not expose it under direct sunlight just yet. I have to wait for it to sprout leaves before doing so.  Ginger In our original experiment, I and my friends tried to grow our own ginger mostly because we know it's quite easy to do it. After 8 months of waiting, here is the ginger we managed to harvest from our container. It's not much because we did not try to grow a lot. Seeing these made me fe...

New Experiments and some updates!

Online shopping has captured the hearts of millennials and try as I might avoid its temptation, I still end up getting hooked. Every now and then, I check for flash deals and other things. Even if I do not really have something in mind that I need or want to buy, I feel satisfaction whenever I browse and check the products available online. A few weeks ago, my ever-loving hubby bought us a new phone. Since January, I couldn't use a phone to check things online because my previous phone died. I was only active online when I get to spend my free time at work surfing the internet using my PC. But now, I have a phone. Of course, I resisted the urge to download apps that were distracting me from work and actual life. However, I failed. So yeah. Maybe some of you already know that I recently got into gardening and stuff like that. Yes, I actually looked for gardening stuff online. I enjoyed looking at the different kinds of plants and seeds I can actually order online. As a result, I...

Container Gardening (an experiment)

Image
When I was young, I had the chance to get hands-on in gardening. Both my parents were gardening enthusiasts and I grew up seeing them tend to different kinds of plants, whether ornamental or agricultural (edible). Recently, along with my sister and my friends, we decided to be the "Titas" that were are becoming and we ended up getting our hands dirty in the most literal sense. At first, we tried germinating seeds (Ponkan) by using the paper towel method. I do not have the photos of our first experiments but I'm happy to say that most of the seeds that we germinated are now thriving seedlings. The satisfaction of seeing seeds sprout tiny leaves was incomparable. After this incredible feat we have achieved, we tried germinating other seeds in the same way (apple, calamansi, star apple, and mango). The calamansi was unsuccessful but the apples are now happily planted in small paper cups. We're just afraid that the intense summer heat of the countryside will take thei...
