Shutter life of Jazz

The last time I posted about my avocado was October 7th and I'm happy to say that the 4 seeds I tried to sprout were successful. One is growing quite well, the 2 others were just transferred to a small pot but they are both thriving well (I gave one seedling to my father-in-law) while the other, although a bit late, is showing signs of life.  I think this means that it's easier for me to grow fruit trees than any other plant or vegetables. Some of the star apple and mango seedlings I planted are now looking like bonsais in their small pots. I'm planning to keep them in pots since I really don't have an area to plant them. I hope I can keep them in 3 or more years and I'm wishing that they bear fruit, too.

A month or so has passed since I tried the lifehack avocado germinating experiment and here are some photos of how well they're doing now. (Yes, the lifehack is TRUE so I recommend ya'll to try it yourself). Two weeks after poking and submerging some seeds into a cup, one seed germinated fast. It developed roots while the others are just slowly developing their own roots. This seed was originally closed. You can see that a root is about to sprout. This was the first seed that germinated and grew roots.  I transferred the first seed to a pot but I did not expose it under direct sunlight just yet. A few months back, I started gardening again as a diversion from boredom. I tried germinating different kinds of fruits from seeds. Some were successful but most were not. Also, the surviving ones now don’t really look great since it has been raining heavily in our area for a very long time. Online shopping has captured the hearts of millennials and try as I might avoid its temptation, I still end up getting hooked. Every now and then, I check for flash deals and other things. Even if I do not really have something in mind that I need or want to buy, I feel satisfaction whenever I browse and check the products available online. Yesterday, we went to a public school located in a place called Anao. This place is not a well-known area but locals know it as a place where "Ylang-ylang" trees are abundant. If you're a Filipino, you surely know the significance of this tree. Many Filipinos most definitely have a faint memory of seeing ylang-ylang hung up on the mirrors of public jeepneys or small statues of saints like the Sto. Nino and other religious stuff. Anyway, as I have already mentioned, we went to a public school where my mother-in-law teaches and gives Sunday service. When we arrived in front of the school, I decided not to stay in our car and to go and look around the school for I know that public schools in the Philippines are mandated to have their own vegetable and medicinal plant garden. When I was young, I had the chance to get hands-on in gardening. Both my parents were gardening enthusiasts and I grew up seeing them tend to different kinds of plants, whether ornamental or agricultural (edible). Recently, along with my sister and my friends, we decided to be the "Titas" that were are becoming and we ended up getting our hands dirty in the most literal sense. At first, we tried germinating seeds (Ponkan) by using the paper towel method. I do not have the photos of our first experiments but I'm happy to say that most of the seeds that we germinated are now thriving seedlings. The satisfaction of seeing seeds sprout tiny leaves was incomparable. After this incredible feat we have achieved, we tried germinating other seeds in the same way (apple, calamansi, star apple, and mango).
