Fun in Pangasinan (Lingayen and Hundred Islands)

Image
Last weekend, my husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary.  As a family, we went out on an almost 2-day trip in some places in Pangasinan, Philippines. Our first stop was in the capital city of Pangasinan - Lingayen City. Although I have been to this place many times, I haven't really went around the city. Being a city, we thought many activities can be done and plenty of places to see. Well, unfortunately, aside from the Capitol and the beach, the city doesn't really have much to offer. Nonetheless, our kids enjoyed walking around the beach and looking for sea shells. We stayed at an inn since hotels and resorts that we went to were all fully-booked due to the NSPC (National Schools Press Conference). Anyway, this inn that we stayed over at is not the best inn for a family. For one, their hot showers were not working and sometimes, their TVs and air conditioners, too. But again, due to the lack of available better accommodation, we decided to spend ...

Ipon Challenge (Trash to cash)

For this blog entry, I'll try to tell you how I indirectly teach my tiny tot about the importance of money. As a mom, I have to always deal with budgeting our finances to survive week by week. It is exhausting and frustrating and no one prepared me to do these adulting stuff. Although, to be honest, I have already learned how to manage my finances since high school but I can't seem to make them last. Because of this dilemma, I see to it that my kids don't make the same mistakes I did when it comes to managing hard-earned money.  My daughter, who is turning 5 next year, requested to have a bicycle for her birthday. Unfortunately, kids' bicycles do not come cheap, especially if you're considering to buy very quality bikes with different famous movie characters design. Unfortunately, she (my daughter) got a bit spoiled by everyone around her since she is the first grandchild in my husband's side and she is the first grand-daughter in my side of the family....

Getting lost in Tokyo (TenQ Space Museum)

Image
It has been more than a month since my visit to Japan and I can tell you that I can recall everything that happened there as clear as day. For this post, I wanna talk about my experience in a place called TenQ which can be seen in the Tokyo Dome. Not many people know this place but I came across this on the internet. My daughter is an avid fan of Astronomy and all things related to space so before going to Japan, I figured to check Museums or any place that has any connections with the said interest. While browsing the web, I saw a blog that featured TenQ but because it was in Japanese and not a lot of information was mentioned, I grew more curious about the place so I asked my guides in Japan if we could go to this place if I have a chance. And gratefully, they allowed us to go there and so the child in me became happy. As I have mentioned, TenQ is a store located in Tokyo Dome and it is a shop dedicated to all things space. Visitors can enjoy watching different shows, go aroun...

Avocado (2nd month Update)

Image
The last time I posted about my avocado was October 7th and I'm happy to say that the 4 seeds I tried to sprout were successful. One is growing quite well, the 2 others were just transferred to a small pot but they are both thriving well (I gave one seedling to my father-in-law) while the other, although a bit late, is showing signs of life.  I think this means that it's easier for me to grow fruit trees than any other plant or vegetables. Some of the star apple and mango seedlings I planted are now looking like bonsais in their small pots. I'm planning to keep them in pots since I really don't have an area to plant them. I hope I can keep them in 3 or more years and I'm wishing that they bear fruit, too.
