Looking back (Part 3)

A tour to Vigan is incomplete if you don't get to watch and try the traditional pottery -making with your own hands. Pagburnayan, is a place where you can enjoy and shop for clay pots that are surely weatherproof. And when I say weatherproof, I really mean that. One vendor even tried to demonstrate how hard their pots by slamming one their mini pots on the wooden table where their other products were displayed. To my surprise, the wooden table suffered a minor dent while the pot remained spotless. Too bad I was not really planning to buy clay pots because my main purpose was to feel like an artist even just for once in my life. Anyway, a short tutorial will be offered by the master to their visitors. If you would like to watch a sample tutorial, click on this link of the video I took while we were there.

Also, some of my teammates bought pure honey in this place. They sell all kinds of souvenirs here other than clay pots. Some of the souvenirs you can buy here are chichacorn, souvenir shirts and keychains, bagnet and Vigan longganisa. I bought 2 packs of longganisa for 200 pesos and half a kilo of bagnet for 150 pesos. I suggest you go to their local market if you want to buy meat products since products sold there are relatively cheaper than in other places.

After trying our best to make a pot/vase, we went back to Calle Crisologo to chill and rest for a bit in a local cafe named Coffee break. My Yzabella was too tired that time that she slept almost immediately while we were waiting for our orders. I did not order anything in this cafe because my little buddy was on my lap the whole time and I didn't want to disturb her nap.

There were fewer people in the afternoon so it's probably best to say that you'll enjoy walking around the streets here more. After regaining our energy, we decided to wait and watch for the sun to set on a beach in a small barangay called Mindoro. This beach is located near Vigan airport (which I did not know existed before). I was so happy to finally have the time to really sit and relax and to end the day peacefully. My little tot was ecstatic to be there. The place is not popular with tourists yet so the place was quiet.

Finally, we went back to the town proper again to grab some bite before heading home. Of course, we went to see the dancing fountain lights, one of the newest attractions in Vigan. I must say, the entertainment exceeded my expectation. I was left in awe as I watched the water and lights dance together while classical music is being played in the background. My camera did not have enough battery to take videos and photos so I just focused on the display of lights in front of me while most people held their phones up to record the spectacular sight. I was sure glad that I did not take videos that time because I was able to REALLY appreciate the performance.

Before heading back home, we went to a popular shop named Marsha's delicacies. I highly recommend that you buy their Royal Bibingka. Their 8-piece box was 105 pesos and their 15 piece box is 195pesos. You can also try their other products like cassava cake (200pesos for the big one) and leche flan (90 pesos)a

So...That's all that happened during our one-day trip to Vigan! Thank you for reading. I will be figuring out what to post next time.
